Ruth Brandt

I am a prize-winning writer and creative writing tutor. Born and raised in Bristol, I studied Mathematics and Physics BSc at London University before discovering my passion for writing which led me to study the MFA in Creative Writing at Kingston University (Distinction).

My main love is prose writing. My short stories, both literary and commercial, have been widely published in magazines, anthologies and online, read at literary festivals and performed. I have written novels and had poetry published and a play performed.

Tutoring

I have been a creative writing tutor for 9 years, working for organisations including Surrey Adult Learning, West Dean College, the National Trust and Surrey Wildlife Trust, as well as running residential weekend courses and tutoring privately.

I have an MFA in creative writing, am a Professional Member of the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), as well as being qualified to teach at further education level.

My aim as a tutor is to get people writing and keep them writing. To encourage this I provide supportive and constructive feedback which takes into account a writer's aims and ambitions. My courses are suitable for anyone who wants to start writing creatively and for those who already write and want to develop their skills.

I am available for one-to-one tuition as well as running bespoke courses for groups. Please contact me if you're interested in finding out more about what I can offer.
